| Face | Length | Wall ht | Gross | Openings | Net wall | Opening % | Line load |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Front (z = 0) | 18.0 m | 2.70 m | 48.6 m² | 10.8 m² | 37.8 m² | 22% | 10.53 kN/m |
| Back (z = Lz) | 18.0 m | 2.70 m | 48.6 m² | 10.8 m² | 37.8 m² | 22% | 10.53 kN/m |
| Left (x = 0) | 12.0 m | 2.70 m | 32.4 m² | 5.4 m² | 27.0 m² | 17% | 11.19 kN/m |
| Right (x = Lx) | 12.0 m | 2.70 m | 32.4 m² | 5.4 m² | 27.0 m² | 17% | 11.19 kN/m |
Enter 10.79 kN/m as the cladding line load in the Building designer (it applies the same value on all perimeter beams; clicking the link fills it in for you).
| Mark | Description | Size | Ground | Typical | Total | Area |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| D1 | Door, single timber | 0.9 × 2.1 m | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1.9 m² |
| D3 | Door, double glazed leaf pair | 1.8 × 2.1 m | 1 | 0 | 1 | 3.8 m² |
| W2 | Window 1.5 × 1.2 | 1.5 × 1.2 m | 11 | 18 | 65 | 117.0 m² |
| Gross wall area | 672 m² | |
| Openings | 123 m² | |
| Net wall area | 549 m² | |
| Wall volume | 215 mm thick | 118 m³ |
| Plaster (both faces) | 1099 m² | |
| Wall weight | 274 t |
| Opening | Clear span | Load model | w (kN/m) | Lintel | Bottom bars | Bearing | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| D1 (0.9 × 2.1) | 0.9 m | full wall height above | 2.93 | 215 × 150 mm | 2Ø12 | 0.05 / 4.0 MPa | OK |
| D3 (1.8 × 2.1) | 1.8 m | full wall height above | 2.93 | 215 × 150 mm | 2Ø12 | 0.10 / 4.0 MPa | OK |
| W2 (1.5 × 1.2) | 1.5 m | full wall height above | 2.93 | 215 × 150 mm | 2Ø12 | 0.09 / 4.0 MPa | OK |
Load: triangular arching load (√3/2 · span high) when the wall above is high enough, otherwise the full wall height. Beams or slabs bearing directly on the lintel must be added as extra line loads.
| Peak velocity pressure qp(z) | 0.80 kN/m² | |
| Design suction (zone A, cpi = +0.2) | cpe,A = -1.20 | -1.12 kN/m² |
| Design pressure (zone D, cpi = −0.3) | cpe,D = 0.80 | 0.88 kN/m² |
Use the larger magnitude to specify glass thickness and fixings with the glazing supplier. Small panels (< 10 m²) can see higher local coefficients than shown.
Scope: rectangular plan, openings evenly spaced along each face, typical storey repeated, wall weights from typical densities, RC lintels simply supported on masonry. Results are an aid only and must be verified by a qualified, licensed engineer before use. National Annex presets are recommended values and must be checked against the official documents.
